Old Time Classic Rimfire Rifles

Over the last few days I had the opportunity to handle and shoot some classic rimfire rifles and became a fan. I wish I could tell you they were from one of our great American companies but that is not the case. They are produced in the Czech Republic and handled here by CZ USA. The rimfire rifles produced by Ceska Zbrojovka Uhersky Brod in the Czech Republic are among the most sought-after firearms in the world. These rifles are being made in the tradition of classic bolt action rifles. The metal to wood fit is excellent with beautiful bluing and lines. The Turkish walnut stocks are like fine pieces of furniture. They remind me of some of the classic Winchesters and Remingtons made years ago. I can assure you that one of these will find its way into my gun safe in the near future. CZ makes many models of rimfire rifles and lots of them are built in the European style and in Old World military training models. The ones I like are made in a Varmint model and a classic American model available with standard trigger or set trigger.

Here is the one I will be getting. It is the CZ 452 American in .22 Long Rifle.

The CZ 452 rifles are manufactured from steel billets not tubing or plastic, the barrels are hammer forged for accuracy and long life. The trigger is adjustable for weight, and the safety is located above the rear of the bolt and provides a positive firing pin block. Single shot adapters, 5 round magazines and 10 round magazines are available for this line of rimfire rifles. I for one am glad to see a quality line of fine rimfire rifles back on the market. Most of our American companies are producing cheaper models to get the price down. Just maybe they should take a look at how well the foreign quality rifles are doing here. Good shooting, Wild Ed
