My View From The Front Porch

Being here alone this evening I made the rounds and checked the livestock, fed the dogs and put up the chickens.  I then fed Chance, our orphan lamb, a bottle.  While Chance played with the dogs I rolled six angels on horseback (shrimp and jalapeno rolled in bacon) and cut some ranch fries.  While that was cooking I made my grandmother's German Egg Custard.  As the sun goes down I am going to go out on the veranda and eat my dinner, have a drink and listen to the birds.  Wish you guys could be here.  Wild Ed

Well, you made me want to come and eat on the veranda! Never been any further west than the eastern edge Louisiana though. Texas has always intrigued me. I hope you enjoyed your meal and keep the updates coming. Love to read about the Texas lifestyle!

After spending the last thirty years in suburbia and the rat race this is a life change for us. We used to go to the country every chance we got and now we live here. It makes going to town seem like entertainment now. We would be living in a resort if it weren't for all the work. Things sometimes hit hard like drought, fire and losing lambs to coyotes. The little one I am feeding now was abandoned by a mother that had twins. She took the big lamb and left the runt to die. He is only three days old and already follows me around the house. It has been a dream of mine to run around in the swamps, lakes and marshes of Louisiana some day. I love being on the river here when we have enough water.

Well Ed, I to wish I was there. Just to sit a spell. I have always lived in the country. A big part of my life was spent way back in the country. Grew up in the Trinity River bottom. I just know about now you are one happy camper. Bill

Bill if you get out this way just holler. I'm pretty sure I could find us a cool drink and we could just sit and soak it in for a while. Ed
